A Boston-based entrepreneur approached our agency to create a complete brand identity for a new high-end Japanese restaurant. The client envisioned a brand that blends Japanese authenticity with modern refinement, offering an experience that feels both culturally rich and visually sophisticated. We were given full creative freedom to develop the naming, the story, the positioning, the brand’s personality, and the visual identity from the ground up.

The challenge was to design a brand that authentically conveys Japanese minimalism while feeling contemporary and premium enough to stand out in Boston’s upscale dining scene. The identity needed to balance cultural authenticity with contemporary sophistication.

We built the brand around the concept of “Beautiful Mountain”, reflected in the name MIYAMA, which evokes serenity, elevation, and natural beauty. In Japanese culture, mountains represent harmony between nature and human craftsmanship, reflecting the culinary philosophy behind the brand. This concept guided the creation of the logo, typography, color palette, and visual identity, as well as the brand’s positioning, tone of voice, and personality, ensuring a cohesive and refined experience across all touchpoints.
